The New iPhone 7 and 7+

So Apple kicked off an event to talk about the most recent updates they'll be doing as well as the launch of new Apple products like the new watch and iPhone. I've compiled a summary for anyone who wants to know about this new update so you don't have to sift through numerous articles.

First, they started the event with a clip of Carpool Karaoke with James Corden and Tim Cook, the CEO of Apple. Pharrell made a guest appearance. James, as always his goofy self, rocked a pair of these stunner shades.

Once the event started, Cook went over some general updates with the company, starting with Apple Music.  If any of you are sad you can't go to the Apple Music Festival in London that's coming up, don't worry because you can stream it for free on any Apple device. For all you Mario fans out there, Cook announced that Mario will be coming to the app store in time for the holidays this year! A new game called Super Mario Run will be launched later this year and it has some great perks:  you can easily play this game one-handed, and with a new battle mode called Toad Rally, you can choose opponents from around the world to beat their high score.  In regards to education, Apple is going to continue their involvement with education with ConnectED, which is a national initiative to bring technology to schools.  Apple is going to continue to donate products to schools as well as launch a program called Everyone Can Code, where they teach students how to code in an easy and fun way.

Now comes the fun stuff, folks!

With the new watchOS 3 comes improvements like better gaming apps, a 911 button on the side of the watch, fitness apps, and the ability to write a quick message on the screen. You heard me, you can write on your watch!

And to all the Pokemon fans out there, Pokemon Go is coming to the watch! It's really fitness-inspired because it shows you how far you need to walk to hatch an egg as well as when you end your workout, the app gives you a summary of the items collected, kilometers walked, and calories burned.  CEO of Niantic Jeff Williams said that with this new watch app, it will take the focus away from the screen and more on your surroundings.

Here are some other things that you can expect from the new Apple Watch Series 2, coming out in a few weeks at $296

  • not only waterproof, but swimproof:  it uses the speakers to eject water that might make its way into the device
  • comes with a breathing exercise reminder to remind us to stop and slow down every now and then
  • most accurate calorie burn that tailors just to you over time
  • upgrades to the chip
  • new and brighter display
  • built-in GPS
  • Viewranger:  a new hiking app for the Apple Watch
  • wide variety of styles:  new ceramic material and Hermés modles

Apple also partnered with Nike to create the Apple Watch Nike+, which was designed with runners in mind.  This perfect running partner will be available in late October, costing $369.

And the moment we've all been waiting for, the iPhone.  Starting off with updates about iOS 10, we learn that there are more Siri capabilities with apps (you can make Siri request a Lyft for you now), quick type keyboard updates, the ability to request rides or book reservations using Maps in its redesign, the new HomeKit (helps you manage devices in your home whether you're there or away), and new updates with messages (bubble effects, full screen effects, and new stickers)

Apple mentioned 10 new updates regarding the new iPhone 7 and iPhone7+, all of which I am extremely excited about:
  • Design:  classic colors (black, silver, gold, and rose gold) are still available, but there's a new high-gloss jet black color
  • Home button:  completely redesigned and customizable
  • Water and dust resistant (thank the Lord)
  • Camera:  new system, everything's new, complete overhaul, this is great
    • image stabilizer - so you don't have to worry about your shaky hands at concerts!
    • wider aperture lens and six-element lens:  allows for 50% more light and sharper images!
    • high speed sensor:  faster and energy efficient
    • flash:  has 4 LEDs which offer 50% more light and a flicker sensor, which reads the flicker of artificial lights and compensates for it (This means better quality low-light photos!)
    • live photos aka boomerangs
    • 7MP FaceTime HD front-facing camera (We get higher quality selfies, people! Who else is excited?!)
    • iPhone 7+ comes with a second camera that has a zoom feature built in so you can zoom in up to 10x and still maintain that high definition
  • Retina HD display:  new improvements such as a 25% increase in brightness and a 3D touch layer; Instagram has created some improvements to go along with this
  • Speakers:  stereo speakers at the top and bottom of the phone that are 2x louder
  • Ear Pods:  no more analog headphone jacks, ear pods connect through lighting instead, adaptors will be in the box with every iPhone 7 and 7+
  • Wireless - AirPods (wireless audio experience, up to 5 hours of listening on a single charge)
  • Apple Pay - now available to Japan iPhones
  • Performance: new generation chip (a10 fusion) that was made with efficiency in mind
    • 120x faster than original iphone
    • better graphics
    • allow for better gaming and photo editing apps
    • "longest battery life ever in an iPhone" HOLLAAAA

The new iPhones will come in the classic colors like silver, gold, rose, gold, and black, but will also come in the new jet black color.  All new iPhones will have increased storage (32GB, 128 GB, 256GB) so that will let us take all the selfies and use all the apps of our wildest dreams.  Apple is also going to upgrade the iPhone 6 to 32GB and 128GB, which makes me very happy.  Lastly, the iPhone 7 will be sold for $649 and the iPhone 7+ for $749.  Orders start in two days, the phones will be available September 16, iOS 10 available September 13, and the new AirPods will be available in late October for $159.

Who else is excited for this?! I truly am. Leave your thoughts on these new products below--I want to know what you guys think!
